and yet another new old guy!

hello everyone, been lurking for awhile, and posted on a few conversations, when i had something constructive to say.

been out of modeling for many years, last truck i built (never finished) was an amt/ERTL C1500 454SS, i bashed it with a ZR1 from the same year (91). i grafted the taillight panel from the vette on the truck, and smoothed out the stock taillights, turned out ok for my first custom body work. maybe i'll post some pics someday. i painted it an insignia orange and mounted the vette wheels and suspension as well. it is about 80% done.

i recently got laid off and took up building again to stay sane!

i currently am building 2 cars, i have the amt 51 chevy convertible i am going to make into a street gasser, using parts from the 33 willys coupe and some from my parts box. it will be jacked up front and back, moderately detailed with a nice paint job (i hope!) i was going to use the engine from the willys, but it is an SOHC Ford motor, not in my chevy!!! so i think i might use the original engine from the 454SS kit, even though it is not era correct. my other options would be to rebuild one of the hemis in my scrap box, but they are pretty rough.

the other kit i am working on is the amt 2006 Camaro prototype, that one i am going to make mostly box stock, just to get my building juices flowing again, i am going to paint it silver.

i also bought a new vette and camaro (amt showroom replicas) but to my surprise, they don't have engines. so i am going to build the camaro to be a look-a-like of my 1:1 car. not sure what to do with the vette.

i don't think i will even come close to the level of detail that so many here excel at, but i'll make an honest effort.

i have been building off and on since i was pre teen, i am now 45 and must wear reading glasses when working on those small parts!!!

i have a couple question to end my bio;

1)  what kind of glue do you all use when mocking up? does regular elmers white glue work? (want to be able to remove it for final assembly/painting)

2)  do most of you spray all parts? or only body? i have seen quite a few builds that looks like every single piece is sprayed.... i don't have my airbrush dug out of the garage yet, so i am brushing everything but bodies for now. bodies i'll be rattle can spraying.

thanks for the great website, there are some damn good model builders here!!!

oh yeah, i plan on building a fenderless hot rod out of the 33 willys, similar to a couple i have seen here, with my own twists. and i have a bunch of half built, and tore down kits to use for parts and new starts.
