In the span of two years, the Ford Mustang has already spawned a number of special edition versions ? either from Ford or from aftermarket companies ? so much so that most of you have probably forgotten this particular gem of a Mustang that was released back in 2009.
The Lee Iacocca 45th Anniversary Mustang first made headlines back in July 2009 as a commemorative model dedicated to the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang?s introduction at the 1964 World?s Fair. Named after the man behind the Mustang?s now iconic design, Lee Iacocca, the 45th Anniversary Mustang, was first auctioned off at the Galpin Ford in Van Nuys, California where the winning bidder ? Steve Sularksi ? scooped up the very first model of the silver-clad, special edition Mustang with a winning bid of $125,000.
Two years after the fact, lee Iacocca is auctioning off his own personal ride for yet another charitable cause. This time around, the winning bidder of Iacocca?s own 4.6-liter V8 engine, 320 horsepower 45th Anniversary Mustang, will not only win the car, but will also get the treat of having lunch with Lee Iacocca himself.
All the proceeds from the auction will be given to Keep Memory Alive, an organization that aims to raise awareness and supports research towards the cure of a number of disorders, including ALS, Huntington?s disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson?s, as well as other memory-related disorders.
The bidding for the Lee Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition is set to start at $80,000, although it?s probably a no-brainer that we expect to see the car shoot all the way up to the neighborhood of what the very first model sold for back in 2009. Given that this particular car is Lee Iacocca?s own model, there?s a big chance that it could even surpass that $125,000 mark of the very first model.
