I recently built a replica of Mr. Bill Jenkins' 1969 Camaro Pro Stock drag car in 1/12 scale. The basic kit is a Monogram 1/12 Camaro that I initially built with an L72 Tri-Power 427. I decided to yank out the tri power manifold/carbs from the L72 and installed a tunnel ram manifold with 2 Holley carbs.
I used parts from other 1/12 kits from Monogram namely: Cragar SS wheels from the '57 Chevy, Big Block components from the '67 Corvette.
I scratch built parts like the Lakewood traction bars, Dash tachometer, 4 speed shifter, fuel pressure gauge, hood pins, and side glass panels. The slicks from the original kit had to be widened in order to fill the rear wheel wells enough to get that 70's Pro stock look.
Fortunately, Slixx decals sell the decals specifically for the Da Grump's '69 Camaro and applied those as seen on the actual 1:1 car.
I thought a nice sunny morning in California would be an appropriate time to take photos before I finally drive it to the dragstrip. But first, I will have to shrink myself 12 times smaller.(Please visit the site to view this media)
