1960 Falcon resto-mod - Replica of my 1:1 - Pics of both

Hello all,

I've finally finished a 1:25 replica of my 1:1 Ford Falcon.  It's been a very long process, but I am pleased with the results and I'm even more pleased to be finished with it and moving on to something else.  :-)

So, this little car started out as an old dealer promo - complete with the closed hood and very simple one-piece chassis.  I modified a chassis from a '65 Mustang kit, and scratchbuilt the front and rear suspensions to reflect what is under the real car.  The engine bay was built from sheets of aluminum and plastic.  The engine is a "worked-over" EFI 302 from Revell's '93 Cobra kit.  "Worked-over" meaning that I modified some things about it that weren't really correct.  I used the seats from two AMT '61 Ranchero kits and then modified them to recreate the front and rear seats like those in the real car.  The hood is also from the Ranchero kit, and is hinged and held up with magnets.

Paint is the same mix that is on the 1:1 car.  A local paint shop cooked that up for me, so it doesn't really have a name.  In these old promos the grille and front bumper are molded together, but I sliced them apart so that I could separate them with a body-colored fascia (like on the 1:1), therefore I had to have the bumpers re-chromed by Chrome Tech USA, and I think they did a great job.  They did the wheels also, which are fom an old AMT '49 Mercury kit.

Anyway, after two years, I'm glad to be done with it.  I've included some photos of the 1:1 for comparison.  Thank you for having a look!  :-)
